* * *
Started playing Skiffle and Rock & Roll at an early age and formed a local group 'The Movers'. Met up with Tony Anderson-ex 'Warriors' from Accrington and formed 'wami'. Supported 'Bad Finger' (Formally the Ivy's) at the Cavern in Liverpool. Was influenced with the (Yardbirds - John Mayall - Jeff Beck ). Worked in Manchester at Tiffany's on Oxford street in the late 60's with Jim Payne, then moved on to London with Dave Foster (Co writer with Jon Anderson, from the 'Yes' Band) - ( Jon! - Tony Anderson's brother) and Rod Hill.
Worked the Glastonbury Festival 1971 under the name of 'Accrington Stanley' following David Bowie's debut set. Later, the Lyceum - the Marquee - the Rendezvous and the Roundhouse? which were all in London, formed a new band called 'Indigo' who had some influence from 'Osibisa' and started work on the American Bases in England for a while.
Went over to Spain later in 1970 to (Re-form), 'Los Bravos' (who had the 'Black is Black' a No 1 Chart hit in 1966, on the Decca label!). Spent five years in Palma-de-Mallorca, formed a new band 'Los Zebra' together with Tony Anderson, Miguel Vicence, Manolo Mari, myself later Juan(Joan)Bibiloni and Alberto Candella. Returned to England (Mid 70's). Met former friends Pete Gradwell and later Ian Brown came along and formed a 'Zany' Trio. Clyde's Ankle.etc. (Pete was recovering from a traumatic experience with his works so I said I help out with his final bookings. - nothing more - simply - 'Part time').
Later ' - 7 Yer Itch', was born, then 'Wamm' and toured England, Holland & Germany. Later got together with Jim Hopwood, (a former Marty Wild's guitarist) and formed 'The Little Big Band' and (Now!) - Solo - with the new name of - 'Wammy'- gracefully back into writing, (Not forgetting Bushys Marquee, on the Douglas Promenade), during the Isle of Man T.T. races in May/June. - (Well I never).
Then came the next step!
I was back in Great Harwood in Birtwistle street, staring out from the kitchen watching the rain running down the window not knowing what the future held. My head was full of songs but I was 'skint', (recording studios at that time were quite out of the question). I was at a standstill.
The music industry was changing so fast because of computers and I was slowly being left behind, (so many musicians, not aware of this happening, were slowly dropping out of the music scene). so what did I do?
Little by little! - I built a bleedin' recording studio in our back garden and to make it 'legitimate' called it my 'Garden Workshop'.
It was surly a big project for me, but with my 'Engineering background' I set off on this escapade.
Delivering the Goods - Another Star in Limbo - and the Rock n' Roll C.D' - were born and are still successful. it took quite sometime, but well worth the effort. With the help from a few friends - I was now a builder! (well nearly !).
The things we do are sometimes quite crazy!
My Finished Great Harwood - STUDIO.
